A Nonsense Post and Happy Birthday to Josh!

posted on: Wednesday, October 30, 2013

How would everyone feel about a babbling, disjointed blog post for your Wednesday morning? And one with NO pictures whatsoever? I'll take your silence as willing consent. Great!

There are some really important things going on in my life right now. Major, life-changing stuff here (please read that with a hearty dose of sarcasm). But first and foremost I should mention that today is Josh's birthday! It would not serve to put that information at the end so let's just get that right out there. I love you, I love you, I love you! I'm sorry you have to work today, because working on your birthday is a total bummer but at least we're going out for Mexican tonight, so you have that to look forward to. That and presents. Presents make everything better.

And now, on to more pressing matters.

I finished Game of Thrones, you guys. All of it. All five of them long ass, brilliant books. I've been reading those and nothing else since summer. SUMMER! I'm just starting to come to terms with it. And now I don't know what to do with myself.  On the one hand I feel like a newly freed Meereenese slave, shackles broken - the literary world mine for the taking! Unchained from the bondage of these books and free to read whatever I choose. Praise the mother! On the other hand I feel a black pit of emptiness and despair opening in my soul. What once was filled by all my Westerosi friends is now a lonely, gaping hole as dark at Drogon's eyes and as wide as the Dothraki sea...

I'm going to miss those books more than I can say, and if George R.R. Martin dies before he finishes this series I'm gonna f*** some shit up.

In other news, I started P90X again last night. Jumped right back in to it with Ab Ripper and Cardio X. Which, I realized this morning was a very bad idea. Nay, a TERRIBLE idea.  Today my legs are like noodles and the pain in my mid section is laughable. But really though, please don't make me laugh because that just makes it worse, ok? Thanks. But no pain no gain! Or whatever it is they say that makes you believe washboard abs are worth all this trouble. As of today, I remain unconvinced.

Aaaand that's it. That's all I've got on the exciting news front, other than I painted the risers on my front staircase white and I'm waffling with the idea of painting the spindles as well. You and I both know I'm gonna do it, but it's just going to be so much work that I'm trying to talk myself out of it. I know! Earth shaking stuff over here, just calm down everyone!

Anyway, that's all I've got. Over and out and all that jazz and if you have any good book recommendations I am now officially open to suggestions! I've been pinning like crazy in anticipation of this moment and now I'm stuck deciding what to read first. I think I'm might have to kick it off with Malala's book, but what would you recommend?

Scare on the Square

posted on: Friday, October 25, 2013

It's Friday! It's Friday! Has this not been the longest week in the history of ever or is it just me? I don't know, all I can say is I'm happy it's finally over and ready to kickstart this weekend. We're celebrating Josh's birthday all weekend long! Jay's making ribs tonight and then Josh and I get a date night out tomorrow. We're seeing Gravity in IMAX. Has anyone else seen it? I'm sure it will be intense!

Anyway, before I leave you for the weekend, here are a few pictures from last night's "Scare on the Square" in downtown Wadsworth. Since we're new to town and this was happening only blocks away from us I figured we'd check it out. It was actually really fun! Josh and his sister Lisa were busy doing the chocolate walk in Lakewood last night (which, totally jealous by the way!) so Marisa helped me wrangle the boys in to their costumes and walk them down to the festivities. There was trick-or-treating door to door at all the local businesses, a costume contest, a 40 person zombie crew who recreated the dance from Thriller and a monster movie set up on a big screen in the parking lot behind the library.

My phone died only minutes into the evening so I only have a few low quality photos to share but there were some REALLY good costumes going on down there and we all had a lot of fun despite the chilly weather. It was good practice for the real trick-or-treat next Thursday but I'll be sure to break out the good camera for that one.

Hope everyone has a fun weekend, here's some dancin' zombies to send you off!

Adam & Julie's Wedding Spectacular!

posted on: Monday, October 21, 2013

Have you ever been to a wedding that so completely captures the couple in such a perfect way you can hardly believe it's real? That's how this wedding was, in every possible way. I have never in my life known two people more made for each other than Adam and Julie. Truth be told, I haven't known Julie all that long, but I know true love when I see it.  I know Julie is bright and charming with an effervescent personality that lights up the room when she's in it. And if one's worth can be measured in the intensity of the hugs they give, she wins hands down, every time. You know you can trust a person who gives good hugs. There's an honesty and vulnerablity there, you know what I mean? And Adam, one of my dearest and oldest friends whom I've know for what, fifteen years now? (How is that possible?) In those years I've seen him through lots of ups and downs. Some heartbreak and disappointment, some soul searching and lots of patience waiting for that one person he was meant to find. Knowing what he was looking for and believing she was out there. And then came Julie, with her sparkling blue eyes and sunshine spirit and it was all over.

Well, really, it was all just beginning.

On Saturday they got married in Hocking Hills, Ohio. In Ash Cave, surrounded by all their nearest and dearest family and friends. There wasn't a dry eye in the place. Or maybe that was just me? I was crying so much I couldn't see straight. I am such a sucker for weddings, but, you probably already knew that.

I stole this picture straight from Facebook by the way, not taken by me, but pretty much the cutest picture in the history of the world, so....

After the wedding we had a little break in between the ceremony and reception where we got to hang out in the cabin we rented for the weekend and nap, chat with friends, watch the boys soak and splash in the hot tub, and fan the flames of a baby romance.

did I forget to mention we made plenty of time for jumping on the beds and general gymnastics as well?

Audra and I have big plans for these two.

and Julie and I have big plans for these two ;)

The reception was everything it should have been and more. Adam and Julie had two first dances which ended in a crowd sing-a-long to a certain disney song which had me sobbing yet again. And then a father daughter dance and a father/daughter/daughter dance (did I mention Julie is an identical twin?) which ended in lots of twirling and hugging and more tears (me and them). Then a mother son dance, a mother-in-law/son-in-law dance, a father-in-law/daughter-in-law dance... you get the idea, lots of dancing, lots of tears, general amazingness.

And then just when you thought you were all cried out, Adam and his new little step-daughter, Jordyn,  broke out a choreographed dance routine to a certain Dirty Dancing song which did indeed end with a fog machine and a swan dive. And lots more tears from this gal. So really what else could you ask for?

Best wedding ever. Best people ever. Best weekend ever.
Thanks for letting us be a part of it.
WE LOVE YOU GUYS!
