Ice Cream Crawl 2016

posted on: Sunday, June 26, 2016

Correct me if I'm wrong, but being able to eat as much ice cream as you want, any time you want it has got to be one of the top ten best things about being an adult. Un-policed dairy consumption somewhat makes up for all the taxes and yard work and junk. And so, using our adult prerogative Josh, Kate, Dylan and I made the VERY mature decision to hire a couple of babysitters for our collective six children and spend an entire evening eating all the ice cream in Cleveland without them.

First stop: Sweet Moses.

The turtle sundae with the salted pecans is a pretty good reason for living.

We also hit up Mason's Creamery for the very first time and I give it soooo many thumbs up. Kate got an Affogato because she's a good decision maker and I got a side of churros with my ice cream cone because so am I. They also show movies outside in the green space behind the building in the summer time.  Now that we know that we definitely need to plan a return trip with plenty of time to stay for the show.

Our last (but certainly not least) stop of the night was Mitchell's in Ohio City.  We took ours to go and walked the neighborhood a bit and enjoyed a pretty perfect summer night.

Kate finished hers first and thus became the 2016 title holder of the first Ice Cream Crawl championship. (A true champion in a literal city of champions #gocavs).  And this will undoubtedly become an annual event because as I mentioned before we are adults who make great decisions, and this night is definitely deserving of a repeat.

Ice Cream Crawl 2016 over and out!

Father's Day

We had a great day with our favorite baby daddy last Sunday. It included an early morning (shirtless) wake up call with presents, handmade cards, a coffee run and then brunch at the Black Pig. Most importantly that brunch included bruleed bacon that was just...wow. I can't speak for Josh, but that had to have been the best gift of the day.

^^^ favorite photo of the day ^^^

Later on we headed back to our place for a home cooked dinner with Abby, Patty and my dad. That meal included a homemade chocolate pie. The dads were winning pretty hard at life that day.

To Josh and my dad, we love you two more than you know. I hope this day reflected at least a tiny amount of the enormous love we have for you both.  Happy Father's Day!

xoxo

"The Parade"

Have you heard that the Cavs won the championship? Ha! That is all that's on anyone's lips around here this week and rightly so. Because after 52 years without a professional championship to our name, this win was SO good for Cleveland. The last few seconds of game seven will be forever emblazoned in our collective memory, as will yesterday's HUGE victory parade downtown. It was a sight to behold. My office actually gave us the day off so we all could attend and with a free mid-week day off and a chance to witness history, how could I not?

Josh was out of town for work so I left the baby with Miss Lori and the boys and I glommed on to the Price family for the day who very sweetly let us tag along.  It was a long day with lots of walking but we did it, and I'm so happy we did. We were part of the 1.3 MILLION people who flooded downtown to celebrate our home team and our beloved city. Man, I love this place.
