An Easter to Remember

posted on: Monday, April 25, 2011

Here I am, sitting at home, my new baby boy sleeping peacefully by my side. I can hardly believe how lucky I am, how beautiful he is and how complete he makes me feel. He turns one week old at 2:32am tonight and it has been more than a whirlwind of a week. I want to tell you all about his crazy birth and how nothing happened the way I had planned and how nothing could have prepared me for the way things went down. The experience was so big, and it's so hard to put it all into words, but I'm working on it. In the mean time I want to share pictures of our first full day home together as a family of four and how it just so happened to be Easter.

Hope you all had as unforgettable an Easter as our family

(p.s. wes has taken to wearing "daddy shirts" to bed and I think it's just
about the most adorable thing I have ever seen, don't you agree?!)

Aaaaaaand We're Still Full

posted on: Monday, April 11, 2011

So remember how I mentioned this past weekend was going to be full of a lot of birthday parties and dinners? I didn't really take into account just how much food and sugar was going to be involved.  I ate more than I do on any given Thanksgiving and Wes may as well have been shooting sugar intravenously after the bender he was on.
Between the Saturday morning Krispy Kreme run and the back to back pizza, cake and ice cream birthday celebrations you'd think we would have been spent.

Shows what you know

Hea-ven!

(Yes, it's really called that and yes it's that addictive)

{Not pictured: the steak dinner and ice cream we ate Friday night.
There probably should be some sort of help line for weekends like this.}

Weekend Forecast

posted on: Friday, April 8, 2011

The outlook for this weekend:

Car seat installation and inspection this afternoon
Grilling steaks for Josh's grandma's birthday dinner tonight
Spring cleaning my house with the generous help of my eager step mom and reluctant dad Saturday
Belated birthday party for Josh's dad Saturday evening
First birthday party for my cousin's twin sons Sunday afternoon
Dinner at my dad's Sunday evening

and somewhere in there we need to find time to go grocery shopping, pack my hospital bag and shop for Easter goodies for Mr. Wes

I'm getting tired from just reading this

Hope everyone has a busy and fun weekend ahead!
(ps - the weather man speaks of temperatures reaching nearly 80 degrees this weekend, 80!!!)

It's April

posted on: Tuesday, April 5, 2011

In case you were wondering if I dropped off the face of the planet or something, rest assured, all is well. But it's April now people, A-p-r-i-l! So yeah, we've been busy, because, holy crap, it's APRIL! Here's a little peek into what we've been up to.

nursery closet shelves purchased and installed - check

baby clothes and bedding washed - check
(ps - the smell of dreft = heaven)

dresser stocked with clean clothes and (unbelieveably tiny) diapers - check

(most of the) baby contraptions assembled - check

Also, we had our bathtub refinished. It was in sad shape when we moved in and Wes has only further exacerbated the damage by picking at the flaking paint at pretty much every bathtime. For some reason we have been putting this repair off since, um, forever. Probably because this is the boys bathroom and really, they don't care about such things.

So, lots accomplished but still lots more to do, because, in case I forgot to mention it - it's April!
