Fourth of July this year meant fireworks and streets donuts in town Thursday night. It was blankets and fresh squeezed lemonade and Bruce Springsteen pumped through speakers in the square. It was small town living at it's very best.
It meant packing up our (sleeping) bags Friday morning and heading south to Granville for the next few days to spend time with one of our favorite families (thanks for inviting us Adam, Julie + Jordyn!) Granville was decked out in it's summer finest and there were parades and fireworks and a carnival to give a proper welcome to the summer.
There were cookouts and homemade root beer floats, hair braiding (thanks Julie ;) and fireworks in the street after the sun went down.
And there were nights with homemade pizza and backyard adventuring in bare feet. Smoke bombs, sparklers, s'mores the size of your head and a bonfire too, because it is summer after all.
It was family and it was good friends and it was time away and time well spent. It was pretty much everything this holiday is supposed to be and then some.
Hope your fourth of July was just a little bit magical too.
